decus.africa - (latin) from 'dedecus', decus = honor, glory, de = taking away / from
labes.africa - (latin) A stain, blot, or stigma; literally a “falling away” from honor. Very short, distinctive, and carries a sense of moral collapse.
aibu.africa - (swahili) Shame, disgrace, or scandal. The shortest option here—only 4 letters—and widely understood in East Africa
kitote.africa - (Kimbundu) A brand, mark, stain, or stigma; also “sin” or “fault”. This is perhaps the closest direct equivalent to nota in meaning and punch.
ihlazo.africa - (Xhosa / Zulu) Disgrace or shame, but with a deeper, collective weight—a “stain” that is felt by the individual and the family.
ihere.africa - (Igbo) Simply shame. It is short, direct, and carries the cultural weight of public disgrace.
